The Importance of Externality in Hacking
A tax loophole that was used for many years by companies like Google and Apple to avoid paying US tax is a complex bug. It involves the tax flow of the United States, of the Netherlands, of Ireland, and also a Caribbean tax haven. So the tax laws of four countries interact in such a way to create this exploit that allows the hacker accountant to save billions in taxes. That's totally a hack. The law allows it. And on the subject of tax code, what exactly is double Irish with a Dutch sandwich? Oh, exactly is hard because a lot of these hacks are kind of hard to explain without knowing the details of how the code works.
