Machinic Unconscious Happy Hour

CHAPTER

The Unconditioned Is the Binding of These Contractive and Expansive Forces

Schelling is trying to say that these contractive and expansive forces that start off with this process of the seed. But when you take that seed, and you put it into a situation where there is stimulus, what happens? The seed cracks. Half the shell falls away. It becomes the so-called unconscious. And the other side that's submerged in the soil becomes consciousness in the present. They're emergent processes. This is why I love this text. It's the first kind of philosophical emergentism that is unfolding.
