The Objections to Liberalism's Official Neutrality

Liberalism's official neutrality is in fact the substantive promotion of particular ways of life. The standard case here is pre-Vatican II Catholicism. Liberal freedom of religion is committed to the idea not that religion actually is something that I choose for myself, but that the state will treat it as if it's something that I choice for myself. It applies to liberal economic questions as well.
