The Repercussions of Book Bands and Challenges

In Wyoming, a county prosecutor's office considered charges against library employees for stalking books like Sex is a Funny Word. A new law requiring that any books objected to on the basis that they contain pornographic material or describe sexual content can be removed within five days of somebody objecting. The American Library Association has a great resource for what to do if a library or school gets challenged. See every that this year's band books week runs October 1st through 7th. It's just an activation essentially to draw attention to the cause. There are so many places I live in New York City that need more books. And there are obviously parts of the country that this is happening way more than others.
