Alyssa Wilkinson wrote a really good review of this movie where she said like, it's ultimately a movie about power. And the whole like Oppenheimer versus Strauss double narrative is one guy who is in pursuit of power as means to an end. He likes the idea of building himself out of dirt and rising to the top of American politics. But in order to do that, he needs to accumulate power. So you either need to start making concessions in your own life in order to accrue that power personally at some sacrifice to humanity usually or you get in bed with people who wield that power and then you give them control over your life.
