It was an exciting feeling that you were contributing really tangibly to the war effort rather than just sitting, manning the defences in Alan Houther or somewhere like that. We got used to getting a little rational of rum and lime lasting in the day to restore our spirit. And if you put it in a plate under one of the cars, the cool breeze blowing would cool it down and make a very nice drink. That was the sort of thing we remembered with pleasure. But still, I personally enjoyed it really on the whole. You forget about the bandwidth to some extent.
