The Government's Failure to Deliver 5,000 More GPs

There are more than 2,000 fewer fully qualified full-time equivalent GPs now. Just over 21% were aged over 55 in 2015, and that figure has now risen above 23%. Among partners, the change is a bit more stark: around a quarter of GP partners were aged 55 plus,. Now it's more than 30% who are over that age. More than 3 in 5 GPs aged over 50 plan to quit direct patient care in the next 5 years.
