The Life of William Hogarth

In 17 53, william hogarth published a book titled the analysis of beauty. The book met with mixed reviews and was mocked by his detractors. He staged two auctions of his work between 17 forty five and 17 51 but these did not generate enough interest to really bring in much money. In 17 57, hogarth became sergeant painter to king george the third. But despite this prestigious and well paying position, his later years were really marked with disappointment.
