How to Conduct Due Diligence Effectively

In these small businesses, very often family owned, the people dynamic can be quite interesting. It's tricky to get a clear high fidelity read on who are the people that are coming with this business because you don't have the opportunity to meet them. The best trick I've learned as to how do you cut through that and try to get as effective of a picture as possible is to ask some really effective questions. But it's just worth acknowledging that there's different questions that I use in each case which are part of my guidebook.
