Ferdinand Porsche was the head of engineering and car design for Mercedes-Benz. He came up with a concept to make an affordable, mass market automobile. The board at Daimler-Benz rejected his idea because it would be too expensive. Ferdinand ended up leaving the company acrimoniously in 1929.
