The patient has definitely as a re tory acidosis, with a decrease in her p h and an increase in her p a c o two. The portable chess x ray was obtained. It shows b lateral opacities, but no clear effusions, consolidations or lobar collapse. And given the information we have at this point, how would you classify her condition and what is the most likely cause?
