The UN undersecretary general for humanitarian affairs Martin Griffiths managed to get a deal to let vital grain supplies leave the country. I happen to be the senior adviser to the special envoy in Sudan and I can tell you that that grain deal has literally saved the lives of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people in sub Sahara, Africa and elsewhere.
