During the ceremony the bride and groom would stand before a priest holding hands. They would exchange vows that usually include the line where you are Gaius I am Gaius being a name that held some particular luck for these types of occasions. After the vows were exchanged the couple would offer a sacrifice to Jupiter in the form of either a pig or as most of us are now used to some type of cake. Following the signing of the paperwork and exchange of presents the guests would sit down to a meal and prepare themselves for the upcoming wedding procession.
