Holst's Mars the Bringer of War
The planets is a seven movement suite, with Earth and Pluto conspicuously missing from the list of planets represented. This is because Holst wasn't writing an astronomical exploration, but an astrological exploration of the planets. In 1913 Holst had become enamored with astrology, especially the book What is the Horoscope and How is it Cast? The piece was written between 1914 and 1916.
