Audley moore was a pioneer in calling for reparations for slavery. She delivered a petition on the subject to the united nations in 19 59. Also campaigned for two black men in louisiana, edgar labott and clifton porrett who had been accused of raping a white woman. The false rape of those two black men is a familiar story. It highlights one of the more bitter points of tension between black and white women in america.
People fighting for more democracy in the United States often have to struggle against sexism and racism. In fact, those two struggles are often inseparable—certainly from the perspective of black
women and some other women of color.
