I side with people who say it is widely implausible that current systems have conscious experience at all. If you look at current candidate scientific theories of consciousness, there are a few that are taken seriously by researchers in cognitive science and philosophy. The do generally agree on some features that at least in biological organisms,. like humans and non-human animals that are plausibly deemed conscious or have described the capacity for conscious experience.
