The Notation Consonant With Subscript Zero
In some languages, the vowel E becomes yeah before certain vowels. That's actually how the languages of the Indian subcotton got retroflex consonants. It kind of sounds like somebody trying to pronounce something while they have a rose in their mouth. They were trying not to cut your tongues.
