Carro: There has been a long debate about the evolutionary origins of language. What came first? Was it vocalization, or was it manual or gestural language? He says there's good evidence to support the notion that that might have a little bit more effective. Carro: The big caviat here, and they talk about it in the study, is that there's no way to do a modern experiment without already being exposed to modern language.
