I was reading the Singularity series, which is this book. It's a four book series that takes place in 2025, 2035, 2045, and 2055. And one of the sort of like flat lines that I thought was interesting was humans wanting to retain their agency. But the AI, like the AGI works out that if they, the humans are going to blow themselves up. So the AI uses that as a pretense to take over all society and keep the humans from destroying each other. We could be governing ourselves in really amazing direct democratic ways where we're deliberating about the important issues. How do we coordinate? How do we solve problems together and delegate our resources
