With a bit of PR and some added paperwork mining companies will now be facing minimal scrutiny for their practices in countries like the DRC. There's an argument to be made that all it would do is create a whole bunch of unemployed Congolese whilst at the same time eliminating the world's main cobalt supply. Bosei Siyungkuba is a professor of natural resources mining environment at the centre of expertise on mining governance and the University of Bukavu.
