Marceana's the Seven Bridesmaids

Marceana's provided medieval authors with a textbook for all seven arts, valuable not only for the information it preserved. But none of this would have mattered had the work not been in Latin. Marceana's himself repeatedly draws attention to the fact that he is transmitting Greek learning into a new tongue. The Greek origins of the very names of the arts are also highlighted.
