The Role of Western Intelligence in the Cold War

Oleg Pankovsky was an agent being run by Britain's Foreign Intelligence Service, MI6 and the CIA within Soviet military intelligence. His intelligence became crucial for the US government during the Cuban missile crisis in October 1962. All of the major assessments given to President Kennedy about Soviet missiles in Cuba had Ironbark stamped on their top - which meant that those briefings were derived in part against Pankovsky's intelligence.
