Is There a Current Status of Asylum Seekers?
When i started out in 20 12, almost ten years ago, i worked on a lot of asylum cases that involved someone who was fleeing life threatening domestic violence or life threatening gang violence. To apply for asylum, you have to show that you're part of a targeted social group. And this might be based on race, or sexual orientation, a political views, religion, all kinds of things. For a long time, you could so qualify for asylum if you were fleeing life threatened domestic violence or gang violence. But under the last administration, they cut out all those people. They cut out everyone fleeing gang violence and domestic violence,. No longer eligible for asylum. So all these people who were fleeing
