The Military Structure of the Revolution
The revolution came out of a violent civil war, indeed decades of war. The party itself was used to this kind of violence as a means of achieving its revolutionary aims. There is a certain necessary, I guess, callousness and calculative thinking that goes into militarism,. Like a war can only be won through a given amount of human sacrifice to achieve victory in battle. In the same way, the regime may have considered their path to communism as having a necessary amount of human casualty.
