I disagree with you that it's useful in any way for me to call that out, especially for a non-black person. I think people are much more careful and certain people should be,. they would otherwise be buthat. The crucial thing for me, ethically is the unwillingness to understand what a person actually meant. It was a bad joke ad, a joke actually designed to mean the opposite of what it seems. Ah, then, andthis is where the line gets crossed into just just a totally malignant mob behaviour. And i think it actually does correct people's behavior.
Sam Harris gets back in the VBW ring for another round on moral responsibility, ethical theories, and the grounds for our obligations to other people. Are we at a genuine stalemate when it comes to blame and desert? Is Tamler a closet consequentialist? Is Sam a closet pluralist? Why is Dave such a big Wagner fan? Plus, Twitter shaming: what is it good for? Settle in, get comfortable, pour yourself a drink, you’re in for the long haul on this one.
