Zathapek Was a Hero of the Communist Regime
Zathapek pioneered the idea of high volume high intensity interval training for distance runners and he trained with a level of severity that was considered completely insane at the time. Zathapek was fluent in eight languages and spoke lots of others. He was a hero of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia but it turns out he was a much more complex person than that.
