The Benefits of Positive Pressure for Bronchitis

The first therapy which has sort of swept the country in the last five years is high flow nasal cannula. It's really just a heated and warmed application of air to be clear, not oxygen, but air that's blown in the nose. The idea behind the mechanism proposed behind this therapy is that it would allow one of four possible mechanisms: positive pressure, peep, CO2 or acidosis. But when we look at this rigorously from a randomized controlled trial perspective, we're not seeing a huge amount of benefit.
