How to Develop Religions That Are Not Based on a Real World Religion

When you start including real world religions into science fiction, then you are going to alienate some people. You have to portray those religions realistically because if you're setting this realistically 50 years in the future, those folks are all still around. So I think it just kind of made the mythos a little more colorful and that was fun. Mentioning Orson Scott Card, he does a good job with this too in his enders series. He likes the things he's done. But we need to move.
