In 1965, some folks from the Madison society led the first gay rights protest of the White House. In 1967, a man named Jack Nichols was one of the first Americans to get on TV and be basically like,Yeah, I'm gay. What do you want? And he did this even though his dad was a fucking FBI agent who said he would kill his own son if the government ever found out that he was gay. So Jack goes on to found gay magazine in 1969, the first weekly gay newspaper in the US. The next year, 1967, the black cat tavern is doing its thing. It's new years as the year changes.
