How Did Gerard Receive in Academics?

Gerard is an interesting case of somebody who talks about personal sanctity and, you know, things like the truth of a Judeo-Christian tradition in an academic context. He's a sophisticated fundamentalist, but like he really believed. I think there's also maybe an anti-religious bias in academia that religion to the extent that it's interesting is interesting as a form of culture. But God forbid it would have anything to teach us.
