The 2014 Gay Law and the Explosion of Keto
In 2014, President Goodluck Jonathan signed the same-sex marriage prohibition bill into law. It brought in a punishment of up to 14 years in prison for offenses including gay marriages and public displays of affection between same-sex couples. The bill was very popular with the public, with a poll finding 87% of Nigerians supported it. Now, we invited a Nigerian queer activist, Walter, to come and take part in our chart with Ian but unfortunately, technology and Wi-Fi gremlins put paid to that. But he told us how the 2014 law led to an explosion in keto.
