The Mystical Experience and Theology of Theology
Theosis is the primary kind of contemplative tradition, I believe, in Eastern Orthodoxy. And that experience is explained as being union with the divine and you no longer feel the fact that you're aware of your body being present or things going on. That's because the Holy Spirit is now making things happen for people who have entered into contact with this world they had been cut off from since birth. It feels like a good sketch of how you could take mystical experience of which has commonalities across traditions then apply this Platonist view to explain what's happening.
