The History of the Jesuit Order

The jesuit order was founded in 1540 by the Pope to serve as soldiers of god. It emphasized a rigorous, classical programm of education for its members and still runs universities around the world today. Some of the first translations of chinese and japanese texts to make it to europe were jesuit translations. Their use of latin as an academic language is why we still call kon fuza by the name confucius to day.
