Do You Need a 1099?
If the contractor doesn't ask me of the forms, I won't 1099 them. It is illegal under IRS tax code for you to pay someone and not get a W nine from them. The W nine tells you in writing whether you are required to give them a 1099 or not. A small local mowing business is actually a C corp exempt from getting a 1099 from me.
