Law and Order SVU is a great example of this. During its early years, it reflected the tough on crime attitude of the times. Recent seasons have shown a more nuanced view of sex offenders. But perhaps its best claim to being a force for good is its consistent emphasis on believing victims of sexual assault. A 2015 study by Stacey Huss found that viewers exposed to the Law and Order franchise were less likely to believe rape myths,. More likely to value consent.
