What's the Difference Between Glory and Vain Glory?

When Hobbes talks about glory as a basis for conflict, he's talking about the demonstration of power to intimidate people into leaving you alone. So vain glory is an attempt to demonstrate power, but it's one that backfires by making you look like someone who ought to be dealt with.
