The Capacity for Sin
I tend to be of the view that like, yeah, a lot of shit has changed in the last 175 years. I'm not sure we really have that better of a leg up on the ancient world than the ancient world did. They didn't know so many things that they don't necessarily bear on questions of salvation, especially. A little kid can sin. Like a kid can lie, but a human kid can't engineer the Holocaust. The capacity for sin probably develops as the capacity for will and choice and determination and future outlook ability. As all that develops, you're more and more able to sin. It's an interesting question: Would you attribute sin to non-human animals?
