Are We in a Recession?
GDP was up 1.3 percent in the second quarter, but GDI -- an alternative way of measuring output -- was down 3.3 per cent. This is the second consecutive quarter of negative output growth for America's largest economy. The Labor market is red hot and contracting; are we in a recession right now? "It's a very peculiar situation," says economist Ben Bernanke.
