The Monroe Doctrine

There's tension in the Southern borders and tension in Latin America over potential revolutions and independence. Britain suggests that maybe the United States and Britain should ally together to take some action to sort of either clamp down or to guarantee independence. And JQA says, no, no,No, no, No, no, we don't want Britain anywhere near the Western Hemisphere. So John Quincy Adams writes the language in the annual address that becomes known as the Monroe Doctrine.
