The Velvet Underground in the 60s
Barbara Rubin asked the Velvet Underground if they'd be interested in appearing in a film of hers. Gerard Malonga, Paul Morrissey and John Kale were filmed at Cafe Bazaar on Ludlow Street. The band's early performances involved underground filmmakers in one way or another. "It's New York, man. If you want me to tell him you don't want to fucking hang out here," says singer Evan Gardart.
