Homer Plessy and the Color Line

Homer Plessy V Ferguson established a formal legal color line for Jim Crow. In order to out himself as a mixed race black person, Homer Plessy chose to get kicked out of the white's only train car he was sitting in. The Supreme Court case and decision named after him is based on this broad view of blackness. Hanzi: It also just reminds me of the story of New Orleans's own Homer Plesslyy.
