The African Killifish Is an Ideal Model for Studying Aging in Vertebrates
The African turquoise killifish is the shortest-lived vertebrate that can be bred in captivity. Its brief lifespan, much shorter than that of a lab mouse and rapid natural aging make it an ideal model for studying aging in vertebrates. The fish can even develop brain-related changes that resemble neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's in humans.
