The Russians and the Americans' Relationships With the United States

The new start treaty, which was arms control agreement signed in 2012 is coming to an end in 2026. If we see the same level of deterioration in our relations, they will not have follow on agreement. We don't know if there is no agreement, then both sides have free reign in developing expanding the nuclear arsenal. For the Russians, there are more incentives. They have a new range of modernized equipment, which will begin deployment this year. And the Russians could generally increase the number of warheads they have in their deployment. But while just sitting here and thinking about American and Russian relations, it doesn't look very optimistic.
