The Different Definitions of Religion
Under Title VII, it is unlawful employment practice for an employer to discriminate against any individual. The term religion includes all aspects of religious observance and practice as well as belief. Originally this definition of religion was not in the first iteration of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. When Congress amended Title VII in 1972, they codified this definition and put in this more expansive definition of religion.
