The Battle of the Somme

The Somme is remembered as the bloodiest day in the history of the British military. There would be a staggering 420,000 British casualties and over half a million German casualties before its end. The first World War was a devastating conflict that scarred the British national psyche. It touched the lives of every family who lost friends and relatives in the fighting or were subjected to terrible living conditions on the home front. This series has been a wild ride, and it's still not over. I'm ending it in York, underground once again, inside state-of-the-art nuclear Cold War bunker.
