Google announced a new language called carbon in July. It's designed to work with legacy C++ code, but not replace it. John Sutter: Carbon is explicitly writing a rushed and spired alternative because they say Rust is better. He says people who say you need to write everything in Rust will actually start writing everything in Rust as we're not there yet.
