I think what makes her controversial is that she's challenging all kinds of received wisdom. And many of the things you've been taught to believe, taught to think of as your basic framework, if this is true, and she's telling you this is false in many cases. I think it's often less the case that people understand her ideas and think it's wrong, but they're often either misinformed about it or don't know much about it.
