Is Discounting a Good Idea?

Price is a signal of what you're going to get. Discount doesn't happen, right? So we used to have this argument when i worked in a movies studio about whether they should discount movie tickets. And the theatre owners didn't want to do it. Theyneats the same cost to watch a movie, whether the movie's good or terrible,. It's going to be seven 50 for all the tickets. Which doesn't make any sense. Like, why don't they do demand base pricing or quality base pricing? Cause that price is a signal of what you're gonna get.
