The Threat to Cancel Christmas

christmas is shorthand for family and love and gift giving and generosity regardless of one's religious leanings or not so the threat to cancel christmas is quite a big thing. scrooge is haunted by these three ghosts and we are reading a christmas carol so that we do not have to be haunted ourselves it's something of a surrogate substitute experience. As i read through the hauntings i'm reminded of this idea this story this vision of heaven or indeed hell where in the country from which we never ever leave.
