The Power of Self-Control
The prefrontal cortex is broadly characterized by by three major functions. It's the part of the brain responsible for working memory, cognitive plasticity and inhibition. Inhibition is sort of equivalent to focus like what's being inhibited is all the other brain regions or impulses that would say maybe i should go do this. Other species don't have as much of a sort of like sustained focus of any kind but they tend to cycle through behaviors and affects. The most easy way to get some sense of this experience um if you haven't had a meditative experience is to imagine yourself engaging with your own internal processes in order to gain greater self control.
